Domestic Dogs - General Discussion

I'm pretty sure you know a bit about Domestic Dogs, but anywho . . .
- This topic is for discussing dogs all round, from their past to the present -
Also, we hope we can make a list of important dog features of which a owner should get used to. I'll give you a head start:
Equipment:
Good equipment is very important when your with your Dog ...
Head starter:
:: Make sure the collar isn't to tight around your dogs neck, if he/she pulls, it may injure the Skin.
:: Always make sure you have a toy and treats with you, since you might have sone time to play!
:: Make sure you always have a good reliable lead with you, a good one that attatches easily to the dogs color so you may control the animal.
Q: What types of collars are there?:

:: I want to enter my dog into a Competiton, though I'm a starter, what do I do! ::
If you are a starter in the Dog Competiton, you've really got to work hard in earning a Rank, showing is not easy, you have to get every little detail as realistic as possible. Always consult with a profensional in your breed stock before you think of enterering a show. These are the basics in the Show Ring
:: Grooming ::
Grooming is one of the key elements in showing, you have to have your dog cleaned, brushed and trimmed into the origninal Cut of your breed.
:: WARNING WHEN GROOMING ::
If you have put your Dog in the hands of a starter groomer beware! When trimming, some parts of the Dogs fur may not grow Back!

:: Training ::
Always put your dog in the hand of a good trainer when doing a trot in the Show ring, also, the person showing the dog doesn't have to be the breeder (YOU). The Dog must know how to walk sensibly in the Ring, how to behave itself when the judge is ibserving the Dog and touching it. In addition, make sure your dog when showing starts at a young age, so get the dog into the Puppy Class if you want it to be a proper Show dog.

Just to let you know you spelled "Collar" as "Color" [Color is the American way of saying Colour in Britain.]
I personally want an Irish Wolfhound or a retriever when I move out when I'm older :3. As we do not have dogs but instead have gerbils, all but 2 are now dead and these 2 both have brain tumors and one is death, so yeah its kinda not fun we can't take them out.
You should put the different dog 'groups' up. This is from wikipedia and is the international ones.

Its always good to know the different 'groups' though this is [most likely] mainly for competitions it might be useful to know ^^.

Thats a shame, maye I'll put a few Groups. Not all of them too, however, I just want to cover the basics.
